How many of you wanted to send a record label an email to tell them about your music. How many of you have never received a response back, maybe could it be how you are sending the email? If you put dear sir/or madam, or is it Hey whatsup, take a listen to my music.
Yes Record labels will not even bother to listen to your music if you come off wrong. Every record label gets pounded by email on a daily basis. They cannot listen to everyone’s music and respond back. You must come across as a business man/woman. As a professional. So I am going to include a sample email you or your manager/agent can send.
Example One – Band Introduction for Labels, Managers, and Agents
Hi (industry contract) – My name is Bob and I’m writing to let you know a little bit about my band the Blah Blah Blahs. We’ve just recorded an album called Blah Blah – we’re told it reminds people of band X and band Y, but we hope you’ll have a chance to decide for yourself. We’ve had a some successes recently, including:
- A four star review in our local paper (include it)
- Touring as the support act for band Z
- Internet radio play
We’re looking for a (label/agent/manager) to help us take this success to the next level. We’d like to send you a demo and hopefully give you some more information about our band. Please let me know if you need any more information in the meantime, and we will get a demo in the mail to you. Thanks, and hope to hear from you soon! Sincerely – Band name and (insert web address here)
